Kyoto Arashiyama Hanatouro 2019
Usually our guests at Guest House hachi visit Arashiyama during the daytime to see the famous Bamboo Grove and explore the area.
In December however you have the chance to visit the beautiful sights of Arashiyama after dark for the yearly romantic illumination.
Path with Flowers & Lights
Hanatouro means “path with flowers and lights” and is held twice a year in Kyoto. In March the event is held in Higashiyama and in December in Arashiyama.
For 10 days visitors can enjoy various locations in the historic area with lights and art installations.
What to Expect
Blessed with important cultural assets the Arashiyama region will make use of their sights and turn the usual experience to something very mysterious.
The 5km walkway passing by various temples and the Bamboo Forest are set up with beautifully decorated open air lanterns.
In addition to that the Kyoto Ikebana Association teamed up with Arashiyama Hanatouro to display gorgeously illuminated flower arrangements along the pathways.
The highlight of each years illumination is that the whole Bamboo Forest Walkways are illuminated to create a wonderful scenery that can only be enjoyed during December.
For Temple illuminations, please visit the official homepage of Kyoto Arashiyama Hanatouro.
