A trip to Kyoto is never complete without checking the famous potteries of the ancient capital of Japan. Since the famous Kiyomizu-yaki porcelain is so popular throughout Japan, every August visitors and pottery lovers have the opportunity to participate in the summer tradition of Gojozaka Pottery Festival.
If you are in Kyoto during the Obon Festival do not miss the largest ceramic festival in Japan with a history dating back to 1920 and around 400 vendors.
The festival is held on Gojo Dori close to Gojozaka which is the birthplace of Kiyomizu-yaki porcelain.
The dates for the Gojozaka Pottery Festival 2019 from August 7th – 10th, from 9am to 10pm.
